William is a rising senior at Charlotte Country Day School. While taking AP Human Geography in his junior year, he became increasingly interested in global affairs and how countries engage with each other. This past spring, he was able to travel to Europe to tour a university in Scotland as pursuing academics overseas interests him. While there, William enjoyed learning about their culture, lifestyles, and everyday life and comparing it to life in Charlotte. He hopes to continue to pursue future similar experiences in other countries.

From a young age, William has loved the challenge of learning new things and broadening his views of the world around him. He recently began taking Mandarin at his school to add to his skills in communication across multiple continents as he can now speak both basic Spanish and Chinese. He has always enjoyed problem solving and has taken a recent interest in following global issues and their steps towards conflict resolution. He intends to study international policies and business in college.

In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, listening to all genres of music, hanging out with his friends, and traveling around the world with his family. He loves talking about sports, especially UNC football and basketball. He plays varsity soccer at Country Day and will run track in the spring. During his summer internship at the World Affairs Council of Charlotte, he hopes to learn more about the local impact of global events and gain insight into potential areas of study through the people he meets and events he attends.
