Connecting The Dots In What Is Becoming a Small World: Become a World Citizen through Travel

Join the World Affairs Council of Charlotte at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 17th at the Westin in uptown Charlotte a unique opportunity to meet and talk to Rick Steves, TV personality and host of popular public television series Rick Steves’ Europe in person. He will share his wealth of knowledge about building a global perspective through thoughtful travel for a broader understanding of issues impacting our world today. In addition, he’ll pass on travel tips on how to connect with people, communities and cultures for a more engaging and well-rounded travel experience.

Don’t forget to come armed with your travel questions! Rick will answer your travel questions during the Q&A session immediately after his presentation.

Rick Steves grew up in Edmonds, Washington. He studied at the University of Washington where he received degrees in Business Administration and European History. But his real education came in Europe. Since 1973 he’s spent 120 days a year in Europe. Having spent a third of his adult life living out of a suitcase in Europe has shaped his thinking. Today he employs 72 people at his Edmonds-based company, Europe Through the Back Door, where he produces over 50 books on European travel, the popular “Rick Steves’ Europe” public television series, a weekly hour-long public radio show which airs all over the USA, and a weekly column syndicated by the Chicago Tribune. Rick has also created two award-winning specials for public television: Rick Steves’ European Christmas and the ground-breaking Rick Steves’ Iran.

Rick Steves (www.ricksteves.com) writes European travel guidebooks and hosts travel shows on public television and public radio.
